HOUSING grants totalling €1,675,000 have been confirmed for Donegal.
The grants, announced by Minister for housing Darragh O’Brien TD will go towards housing adaption grants for older people and people with disabilities in Donegal.
The grants are 80% funded from the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government, with 20% funding from the Donegal County Council.
Grants are available to assist people with a disability in carrying out necessary works to make a house more suitable for their needs, to assist older people living in poor housing conditions to have necessary repairs or improvements carried out and for mobility aids to address mobility problems for a member of the household.
The news has been welcomed by Donegal County Councillors Noreen McGarvey and Anthony Molloy.
In a joint statement they said: “We welcome to days visit of the Minister to the county, after which he will have a first-hand knowledge of the housing needs of the various Electoral Areas and the need for major investment in the county after years of under investment.”
