PLANS have been lodged to develop a new distillery in county Donegal.

An application was lodged by Doyle’s Distillery Ltd with Donegal County Council on Monday.

The proposed development is for a 0.7 acre site at Cummirk, Cloghan.

The development would consist of the construction of a new distillery complex building to accommodate: a bottling line; plant room; milling mash tun, fermentation, pallet and still areas; ancillary office/reception.toilet area; storage area; and external silos.

The application also proposes to provide a sewage treatment system and associated development works.

The proposal seeks to change the use of an existing shed on the site into a ‘distillery research and development centre’.

The application seeks retention permission for an altered roofline and side extension to the existing shed to accommodate the change of use.

Doyle’s Distillery Ltd is a company formed by the Doyle family, with an address at Newmills, in January 2020.

A decision on the application is due, the local authority says, on October 4.
