A patient aged under 40 has passed away after being diagnosed with Covid-19 in Northern Ireland.
This is the first Covid-19 related death confirmed by the Department of Health in Northern Ireland for four days. The death toll is now 558.
Seventy-four new cases of COVID-19 have been announced today. There have been 242 new cases in the last week, with the total number in the region rising to 6,299.
New figures from the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (Nisra) today report over 859 Covid-19 related deaths up to 7th August. Nisra figures differ from the department as they count all deaths where Covid-19 is recorded on a person’s death certificate.
