Beach-goers at one of Donegal’s most popular resorts were left surprised today after Donegal County Council clamped down on illegal parking.
As well as double yellow lines, a box junction has been introduced outside the entrance to the local Shandon Hotel at Marble Hill near Dunfanagahy and Portnablagh.
In recent weeks there have been traffic jams in the area due to the high volume of visitors to the area.
Gardai were in the area today as motorists got used to the new parking restrictions.
The new parking measures have been met with a mixed response.
Some claim the measures are long overdue as there is constant gridlock in the area during summer months and especially during decent spells of weather.
However, others claim that people always find parking spaces and that traffic may be slow but always gets through the area.
