Donegal woman Siobhan Shovlin has won the Fine Gael co-option to take a seat on Fingal County Council in Dublin.

The Ardara native will replace Senator Emer Currie to represent the Castleknock ward in Fingal.

Ms Shovlin, a primary school teacher in Cabra, ran in the Cabra-Glasnevin Ward on the May 2019 local elections. She received over 750 first preference votes.

The daughter of Conal and Bernadette Shovlin, Siobhan maintains close links with Donegal through her work with the Donegal Association in Dublin.

Her priorities in politics include; the environment, housing, education, childcare and transport.
