A small boat has beached after being found adrift in Lough Swilly today.

Lough Swilly RNLI was tasked by the Irish Coast Guard to a small vessel reported just north of Rathmullan this afternoon.

The boat was undamaged, however it posed a potential danger to other maritime traffic in the area.

The boat eventually beached at the back of Inch Island and was no longer deemed unsafe to others.

The RNLI crew returned to Buncrana pier and have refuelled and made ready for service again.
