Met Eireann has issued a new Status Yellow for Donegal this evening due to Storm Francis.
There is a further risk of heavy rainfall tonight which, combined with overnight accumulations, will lead to a risk of some flash flooding.
This rainfall will further elevate river levels and may result in river flooding also.
Road users are warned to slow down and look out for excess surface water and wind-blown debris.
A Status Orange rain warning was in effect for Donegal for much of today. The new Status Yellow warning will be in place until 9pm tonight.
The rain will become lighter during the night and gradually clear northeastward. Winds will continue to be ‘fresh’ and will ease light to moderate by morning.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, is set to be a bright fresh day with sunny spells and scattered showers. Showers will become frequent and heavy at times later in the day. Temperatures will reach highs of 16 to 18 Celsius.
