Moville maintain 100% record in JFC with win over Letterkenny Gaels

MOVILLE made it three from three in the Donegal JFC with a comfortable win over Letterkenny Gaels this afternoon, writes Charlie Collins

Moville 1-12 Letterkenny Gaels 0-6

Paddy Faukner opened the scoring for the hosts from a free but inaccurate shooting meant they struggled to add to that total before Conor McBrearty opened his account to level it for the visitors on 10 minutes.

The Inishowen side were 0-7 to 0-3 up at half-time and if anything, should’ve been further in front. In that opening period, Moville kicked eight wides and dropped four balls short into the hands of Gaels goalkeeper Ryan Graham.

However, they were not made pay for that as they continued their domination in the second half to run out winners on a handsome nine-point margin.

Faulkner would add three more points before the break, while Ciaran Diver, Enda Faulkner and Eoin O’Doherty were also on the mark. Graham had to be on his toes to stop a Michael Barr effort, who linked up with Malachy McDermott before having a go.

All three of Gaels’ first half points came from McBrearty.

Moville were determined not to get caught after the break and began building on their cushion with Paddy Faulkner scoring again and Ciaran Diver adding a quickfire brace.

The only goal of the game came on 39 minutes through Michael Leech, who got onto the end of a long ball from Enda Faulkner to drive home. Gaels only added three points in part two, with Ronan Frain and Brian Diver registering before another from McBrearty.

Moville were always in control and Ciaran Diver continued his accuracy in front of the posts with the last two scores of the game.
