Gardaí are investigating a shocking incident in Letterkenny where two shops were targetted with fireworks.

Two shops in the busy retail park area of Letterkenny were targetted last Tuesday afternoon at 1.30pm.

A lit firework was tossed in the door of one store near the Paddy Harte road, causing damage to clothing stock.

At another shop off the Pearse Road, the offender lit a firework outside the door but did not manage to throw it inside.

There are no reports of any injuries to staff or customers following the frightening incidents.

Gardaí say that both incidents are connected and are analysing CCTV as part of the investigation. The authorities are appealing for information in relation to the events and are said to be making progress with the investigation.

Anyone who witnessed the events on Tuesday 25th August is asked to contact Gardaí in Letterkenny on +35374916710 or call the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
