Shock at cruel dumping of roosters in drain

A Donegal charity is searching for homes for five roosters which were found dumped in a drain.

Animals in Need Donegal came to the rescue yesterday when a flock of roosters were reportedly abandoned in shocking conditions.

Five of the birds were caught and settled in makeshift pens for the night.

The search is now underway to rehome the roosters.

The Animals in Need charity volunteers made the appeal on Facebook: “Sadly this is something that happens all too often- people ‘getting rid” of unwanted roosters and only keeping the hens.

“One is a fully grown stunning rooster (white Sussex) and 4 are probably only around 15 weeks old.

“These stunning birds make great pets and are fantastic in looking after their hens in a flock.”

Anyone who is interested in offering a rooster a safe home is asked to contact Animals In Need Donegal on Facebook.
