THE 2020 mountain bike race series has been a short one, but three Clonmany riders used lockdown to their advantage with plenty of practice getting themselves ready for the racing to start.

Early August saw a Team Eduro held in Glencullen, County Dublin.

Aaron Morris and his team mate Frank Love took 6th place in the Adult/Junior category.

Winners were Vitus team riders Callum Morris and Gary Donaldson who also finished an impressive fifth overall.

Next up was Bigwood Enduro in County Down. Inishowen Wheeler’s Odhran Lagan, 12, was competing in his first mountain bike event.

With two rounds over the weekend the riders practiced in the morning before racing the stages in the afternoon.

Odhran made steady progress in tricky conditions and bagged a top 10 finish on both days.

Also in the U14 category, Portal Racing’s Aaron Morris was in fine form taking fourth on Saturday and then rounding of the weekend with third place in Sunday’s race.

Callum Morris took a hard-fought third place during Saturday but slipped to sixth on the Sunday after a crash on stage one that broke his brake lever which hindered him for the rest of the race.

The final event was a trip to Wicklow for the Morris lads and the Gravity Enduro in Carrick Forest.

Both riders went well and had trouble free runs, with Aaron taking fourth place and Callum taking top spot in the very competitive u16s.
