Keeping schools open will be ‘priority’ – Taoiseach

THE new roadmap for ‘Living with Covid’, which will be unveiled on Tuesday, is to prioritise keeping schools and colleges open.

An Taoiseach, Micheál Martin, outlined the plans today on RTÉ’s The Week in Politics.

Martin said that keeping educational establishments open will get priority over pubs, travel and sport.

“The life chances of a child depend crucially on education and learning, and as a society I think we get that,” he said.

“That’s why we must do everything we possibly can, notwithstanding the pandemic, to keep our children at school safely and also our young people learning in our universities and our institutes of technology.”
