Breaking: Another 12 Covid-19 cases confirmed in Donegal

A FURTHER 12 cases of Covid-19 have been identified in Donegal, it has been confirmed.

It comes after 13 cases were reported in the county yesterday.

Nationally, there were 208 new Covid-19 cases reported to the Health Protection Surveillance Centre today and there have been no further deaths recorded.

Of those, 108 are in Dublin, 18 in Louth, 12 in Donegal, 10 in Meath, 9 in Kildare, 8 in Waterford, 7 in Cork, 6 in Limerick, 6 in Wexford and the remaining 24 cases are located in Carlow, Cavan, Clare, Galway, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Mayo, Roscommon, Tipperary, Westmeath and Wicklow

Today’s 12 cases have yet to be added to the overall total in Donegal, which stood at 579 at the last reading.

Earlier today, Lifford Old Courthouse confirmed that it has temporarily closed after a staff member tested positive for the coronavirus.

NINE staff members at the award-winning Buritto Loco in Letterkenny have tested positive. The owners have pleaded with other businesses to take Covid-19 seriously.

To date, there have now been 31,192 positive cases in Ireland and 1,784 deaths.

Of the cases notified today:

– 98 are men and 110 are women

– 62% are under 45 years of age

– 33% are confirmed to be associated with outbreaks or are close contacts of a confirmed case

– 18 cases have been identified as community transmission

The HSE is working to identify any contacts the patients may have had to provide them with information and advice to prevent further spread.
