Lough Swilly RNLI volunteers have been praised for bringing a broken down boat to safety off Fanad Head.
The alarm was raised this morning after 11am, when a cruiser got into difficulty four nautical miles north of Fanad Head. The boat had five people onboard went it suffered a mechanical failure.

The Lough Swilly all-weather lifeboat was tasked to the scene by the Irish Coast Guard. Rescue volunteers worked to successfully tow the vessel to Rathmullan Pier.
Following the successful mission, the lifeboat was returned to Buncrana to be refuelled and made ready for service once more.
