PLANNING permission has been granted for a major new housing development in Donegal.

Permission, subject to a number of conditions, has been approved by Donegal County Council for the development of 56 residential units on a 4.8 acre site at Drumrooske Middle, Donegal Town.

Permission was sought in December 2019 by Felix Gillespie for the development.

The proposed development consists of 26 three-bedroom two-storey semi-detached dwellings; 16 two-bedroom two-storey terraced dwellings; two duplex units, with the first unit comprising four two-bedroom ground floor apartments and four three-bedroom duplex dwellings above, and the second unit made up of three two-bedroom ground floor apartments and three three-bedroom dwellings above.

The application catered for the provision of access roads, pedestrian footpath and pedestrian crossings; on-site public lighting; public open space amenities including a children’s play area; the erection of boundary fences and walls; car and bicycle parking facilities; and the installation of a foul sewer network, as well as associated site development works..
