THE Letterkenny-based Encore Performing Arts Academy was celebrating three top awards at the 2020 Association of Irish Musical Societies (AIMS) awards.

Their production of Hairspray earned three awards, which Rebecca Thompson, the owner and artistic director at Encore Performing Arts Academy, says has ‘blown me away’.

Hairspray was the winner in the Best Visual category.

Andrew Tinney was named as the Best Male Singer and Marie O’Donnell took the gong for the Best Female Singer.

I am buzzing, ecstatic, overjoyed and so proud of everyone involved in our production of Hairspray,” Rebecca said in a Facebook post last night.

“To be nominated in our first year at AIMS was special. But to walk away with three overall awards has blown me away.

“I cannot put into words how in awe I am of your love and passion for performing and for the maturity you have shown, particularly over the last few months. Know that you are talented, kind, smart, inclusive and supportive children and I am so proud to have you at Encore PAA.”
