Defibrillator stolen an ‘attack on whole community’ in Letterkenny

HEARTLESS thieves stole a piece of lifesaving equipment in Letterkenny over the weekend.

A defibrillator, which was located outside the Snug39 bar at Oldtown in Letterkenny was removed from its case.

Local business and residents embarked on an extensive fundraising drive last December to purchase the defibrillator, which is for the benefit of the entire local community.

When someone suffers a sudden cardiac arrest, the defibrillator delivers a shock to the heart to allow it to resume its normal rhythm.

The theft has been described as ‘an attack on the entire community’.

It is hoped that the taking of the defibrillator was captured on CCTV in the area.

Gardaí have been alerted and are investigating.

Anyone with any information about the theft of the defibrillator or who can assist in its recovery is asked to contact An Garda Síochána.
