GARDAI believe that a fire in a Letterkenny apartment block was started deliberately at the weekend.

At around 1.35am on Sunday last, September, 20, there was a report of a fire at Luí Na Gréine in the Oldtown area of Letterkenny.

Gardaí and the fire brigade attended the scene. Gardaí are investigating the act of criminal damage, believing that the fire was started deliberately.

“This could have been a totally different story,” a Garda spokesperson said. “It’s very lucky that no-one was injured with a fire in an apartment block.”

Anyone who has any information, who heard or saw anything, is asked to contact Gardaí in Letterkenny on 074-9167100 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666-111.
