Deputy Joe McHugh has confirmed that a new round of the Sports Capital Programme will be open for applications before the end of this year, with an announcement in this regard expected in the coming weeks.

“This is good news for our clubs and organisations throughout Donegal, who have been working hard on getting application details and information put together and who have been awaiting further news on the next round of sports funding,” said McHugh.

The Donegal Deputy said he expects we will have further information regarding the scheme in the coming weeks and that the programme will be open for applications later this year.

Following the finalisation of the appeals process, a full review of the 2018 round of the SCP was undertaken.

This Review has now been complete and the terms and conditions of the next round of the programme will be based on the recommendations in the Review.

The priority to date this year has been to advance all of these projects to ensure the facilities are available for use and that the relevant grants are drawn down.

“Work on these terms and conditions is now being finalised and a new round of the programme will be open for applications before the end of the year,” he added.
