Delight as defibrillator found after community search

A PIECE of lifesaving equipment which had been stolen at the weekend was located following a community search this week.

A defibrillator, which was located outside the Snug39 bar at Oldtown in Letterkenny was removed from its case, prompting widespread anger.

Local business and residents had embarked on an extensive fundraising drive last December to purchase the defibrillator, which is for the benefit of the entire local community.

Locals were left angered and frustrated on discovering that the defibrillator was taken.

However, a group organised a search of the area this week and the defibrillator was recovered.

A Garda spokesperson said: “It is unknown as of yet whether it is still in good working condition or not.

“The investigation is ongoing and Gardaí in Letterkenny wish to hear from anyone who has any information in relation to this theft. Letterkenny Gardaí may be contacted on 074-9167100.”
