Listowel wins for Oisin Orr and Dylan Browne-McMonagle

DONEGAL jockeys Oisin Orr and Dylan Browne-McMonagle were toasting wins at Listowel this afternoon.

Browne-McMonagle won the Listowel Printing Works Handicap on the 4/1 Baron Samedi and Orr took the MAC Fuels & General Supplies Maiden on 3/1 chance Emiyn.

Orr kept on well aboard the Dermot Weld-traied Emiyn to win from 11/10 favourite Charlie Bassett.

The win saw Orr and Weld combine after their success in the recent Irish St Leger.

Victory on the Aga Khan’s three-year-old was a seventh win of 2020 for Orr.

“He was good today and he enjoyed the ground,” Orr said.

“He’s had plenty of experience which helped today and had ran on the ground before so we knew he’d handle it.

“He’s been very consistent and it’s nice to get a win into him.”

Browne-McMonagle pushed two furlongs from home and stayed on well on the near side to take the win on the Joseph O’Brien-trained three-year-old.

Browne-McMonagle was almost a length in front of Bashiyr (13/2) and Milkey Sheehy.

O’Brien representative Brendan Powell said: “Dylan said he travelled well but then got knocked badly and was pushed about seven wide in the end.

“What I love about him is he’s very genuine and he’s actually won with his ears pricked in the end.”

Earlier this month, Browne-McMonagle and Baron Samedi partnered to win the Market Square Handicap at Navan.

Jim Bolger’s Halimi, under the direction of Rathmullan man Luke McAteer, was in third.
