Donegal’s Covid incidence rate soars to 185.3 per 100,000 people

COVID-19 incidence rates in Donegal and Dublin continue to soar.

The 14-day Covid-19 incidence rates in both counties have increased significantly over the past 24 hours.

Donegal’s incidence rate has overtaken the capital’s with 185.3 per 100,000 people.

Dublin’s 14-day incidence rate has increased to 152.9 compared to 136.4 this time last week, in figures up to midnight on September 26.

Even more worrying is that almost one quarter of new cases in the last two weeks were among 15-24-year-olds.

4,022 cases of coronavirus were diagnosed between September 13 and 26, new HPSC figures reveal – and 984 of these were among the 15-24 age group.

Health chiefs say it’ll be later this week before any impact of Dublin Level 3 restrictions might be detected in levels of virus transmission.

Meanwhile, fresh restrictions could be on the way this week for Cork, Galway, Louth and Wicklow.
