Two errors have been uncovered in this year’s Leaving Cert calculated grades system, it has emerged.
The Taoiseach confirmed the issue in the Dáil and a full announcement is to be made by the Minister for Education this evening.
Department of Education officials are also expected to launch a helpline for students affected by the matter.
Details on the errors have not yet been made known, but Education Minister Norma Foley’s statement is expected to be “significant”.
Taoiseach Micheál Martin said the government is working on delivering the information in a way to ease students’ anxiety.
“Our objective and the priority has to be the students themselves in terms of how they receive this information,” he said. “Students may receive grade upgrades in terms of some of their grades as a result of these errors, they have to be communicated with first.”
