The recommended budget for the scheme is €5,843,071 for 34 units, funded under the Capital Assistance Scheme.

Habinteg Housing Association is a registered social housing provider which is responsible for an award winning development in Ballyduff Park, Lifford for families, older people and persons with disabilities.

The housing charity set its sights on Castlefin when it purchased a partly developed site on the Raphoe Road. The project is planned to start construction in quarter 2 next year for completion in quarter 3 in 2022, Cllr Doherty has said.

“For a project of this scale, there are several stages in the approval process. Stage 2 is the critical step on procurement, cost and value for money and is the key step in accessing funding,” said Cllr Doherty.

Cllr Doherty added that the Raphoe Road site is in an location close to all amenities in Castlefin.
