Gardaí in Donegal are calling in parents to take action to prevent children using fireworks this month.
In the lead up to Halloween, the authorities are urging parents to talk to their children about the dangers of fireworks.
The sale, possession or use of fireworks is illegal in Ireland without a permit, and gardaí are hoping that people will follow the law and have a safe holiday this year.
Gardaí took to Facebook to issue the following advice: ” The illegal use of fireworks can and does cause great distress to older people, pets and families. Parents, please ensure that you know where your kids are and conduct regular searches of their bags for fireworks. Stay alert! Talk to your kids about the great dangers associated with fireworks as many people sustain horrific burn related injuries at this time of year. ”
