Donegal continues to have country’s highest incidence rate of Covid-19 – with the figure nearing 300 per 100,000.
The Health Protection Surveillance Centre today reports that Donegal’s latest 14-day incidence rate rate is 293.4 per 100,000 people.
The rate accounts for the 467 new cases of Covid-19 detected in Donegal in the past two weeks.
The national incidence rate is now 116.5 – two and a half times lower than Donegal figures.
Fifty one more cases were confirmed in the county on Monday.
Donegal accounts for the majority of new cases in the HSE CHO1 area, which includes Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan, Leitrim, Sligo. 766 cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed across the north west counties in the past two weeks, with 55 of the cases detected in healthcare workers.
The HPSC also reports that 347 (45.3%) of new cases in the north west are associated with clusters. The mean age of people who contracted Covid-19 in the region in the past fortnight is 37.
