Covid-19: 38 new cases in Donegal, 825 cases and one death nationally

THERE have been 38 new cases of Covid-19 confirmed in Donegal today.

Figures released this evening by the Department of Health show one further Covid-19 related death in Ireland, where the death toll since the outbreak now stands at 1,827.

Nationally, there were 825 new cases today, taking the total number of infections to 45,531.

Of the cases notified today: 426 are men / 392 are women; 78 per cent are under 45 years of age; the median age is 30 years old.

254 of the case are in Dublin, with 147 in Cork, 39 in Cavan, 38 in Donegal, 37 in Kildare and the remaining 310 cases are spread across 20 other counties

As of 2pm today, 224 Covid-19 patients are hospitalised, of which 32 are in ICU. There have been 20 additional hospitalisations in the past 24 hours.

As of last night, there were 15 people receiving treatment for Covid-19 in Letterkenny University Hospital. Three of those patients are in intensive care while another patient in ICU is considered a ‘suspect case’.

Earlier today, there were three further deaths and 877 new cases reported in Northern Ireland.

There have been 199 new cases in the Derry Strabane region.

There have been 6,161 new Covid-19 infections in Northern Ireland in the past week.  Belfast has had the highest number of positive cases with 1,554, while 1,463 cases were confirmed in Derry City and Strabane.
