Donegal County Council has confirmed that a new pedestrian crossing is to be installed in Manorcunningham by the end of 2020.
A safe crossing and signage have been sought for the village numerous times in recent years due to locals’ concerns over speeding traffic.
The new infrastructure will be located on the main street linking the Abbey Villas housing estate, playschool and doctors clinic.
“This is a very busy area. It’s a spot where this is an accident waiting to happen,” Cllr Donal Kelly Jnr told the Letterkenny-Milford MD meeting today.
Cllr Kelly welcomed the news that funding has been secured for the crossing under the Active Travel Programme. Donegal County Council is currently designing a proposal and tenders are being sought with the view that the works would be completed by the end of 2020.
