Chambers from both sides of the border met recently on the border in an effort to encourage people in the North West to take on board the public health messages and work together to contain the spread of Covid-19.
Jimmy Stafford, President Letterkenny Chamber and Redmond McFadden, President Derry Chamber took this unprecedented move to highlight that we are one region, we share the same space and now like never before co-operation is key.
Jimmy Stafford, President Letterkenny said that as cases in the North West continue to rise they decided to come together to a issue a joint message on behalf of our member companies and businesses across the North West region.
He said “We are asking everyone to Wash their hands, wear a mask, keep social distance and cut down on social gatherings. Businesses across the region have done all they can in terms of protecting their customers and staff. If we all stick to the guidelines over coming weeks we can protect lives and livelihoods across the region.
“This is a critical time for the North West in terms of Covid-19 for the region. These messages are clear and we are calling on everyone to play their part as they did so well in March & April.
“It is a time for our communities and businesses to come together, to really think about our social interactions, to adhere to the guidelines in order to protect our people and our economy.”
