Donegal County Council is seeking funding to improve safety at two accident blackspots in Milford.
The crossroads at the ‘Old Tech’ in Milford and the top of the Quay Brae have both been identified as problematic areas for collisions.
Cllr Liam Blaney highlighted the need for improvement works to the Municipal District following a number of recent accidents.
In response, the Letterkenny-Milford MD Roads Department confirmed that the old Tech junction has been prioritised to be included in an application for Low Cost Accident funding. A survey and a design of necessary improvement works will be carried out as part of this process.
The crossroads at Quay Brae will also be put forward to be considered for an application for funding, the council said. In the short term, arrangements have been made for the roadside bund to be lowered to improve vision lines for traffic exiting the Tirhomin Road.
Cllr Blaney has welcomed the council’s action on both junctions and told the MD that the Quay Brae crossroads should also be prioritised.
