Letterkenny Institute of Technology is set to name a new Postgraduate Research Suite in honour of Nobel Laureate Prof William C Campbell.
The new facility, located in the CoLab innovation centre, will be officially opened with a virtual launch on Monday 2nd November.
Ramelton-born Professor William C Campbell will attend the online event from the US and Minister for Further and Higher Education Simon Harris will carry out the launch.
Prof William C Campbell (aged 90) is Ireland’s only Nobel Prize winner for Medicine. He was awardd the prize for the development of a cure for River Blindness while working with pharmaceutical company MSD. His treatment has saved the sight of hundreds of millions of people in Africa, Latin America and Yemen.
William Campbell’s memoir, Catching the worm, was launched this year to coincide with his 90th birthday.
