A MAJOR power cut has left over 2,600 homes in the Twin Towns in the dark.

The outage, first reported to the ESB at around 7.20pm, has hit 2,674 customers.

An ESB repair crew is working on the problem

The ESB estimate that power will not be restored until 11pm.

The ESB said: “We apologise for the loss of supply. We are currently working to repair a fault and will restore power as quickly as possible.”

There is also a power cut in the Gweedore area with just over 100 customers affected.

It is estimated that power will be fully restored by 9pm.

A further interruption to service in Carndonagh has 15 customers without power and they also can expect to have their service restored by 9pm.
