Volunteers with Mary’s Meals in Donegal are inviting the public to set a place at a very special Christmas table this year.
This year, the cost of a typical Christmas dinner could be up to €20 per person – but just €18.30 could change a child’s life for a year.
A new Christmas campaign was launched by Mary’s Meals today to help feed schoolchildren in some of the world’s poorest communities.
People are invited to set at place at a virtual dinner table with a donation that will feed a hungry child for a whole school year. Everyone who donates is given a special placemat on the virtual table on www.marysmeals.ie, and in this way, they gain a place in a big family of life-saving donors.
1.6million children around the world benefit from life-changing school meals thanks to Mary’s Meals.
The Donegal branch of the charity has had its regular events and collections curtailed by restrictions, but it is hoped that the Big Family Christmas Table appeal will generate some extra goodwill from the county.
