Memories of Ms Friel remain ‘evergreen’ on second anniversary

Loreto Letterkenny students took a moment today to recall treasured memories of their former Prinicpal, Ms Nora Friel, on the second anniversary of her death.

Ms Friel will be forever remembered as a lady with a caring spirit, a contagious smile, and a passion for the betterment of every student in her school community.

Students and staff marked the second anniversary of Ms Friel’s passing with a small gathering in the Evergreen Garden.

This special place was opened last year as a tribute to Ms Friel’s legacy in Loreto. Senior students designed the space themselves, peppering it with small decorations that remember Ms Friel’s musical talents, her favourite quotes and her best qualities.

As the school terms pass by, and year groups come and go, the garden will always be there for events such as today.

Principal Sr Ger was joined by the newly appointed Transition Year Captains for a small memorial, while family, colleagues, and countless students also marked the day in their own special way.
