A rescue mission has turned into a good ‘tail’ after a pet dog survived a cliff fall in west Donegal.
The incident happened at the cliffs near Portnoo at 1:30pm on Monday afternoon.
An alert was raised about a dog in danger and there was concern for the dog’s owner.
Killybegs Coast Guard was tasked to the scene by co-ordinators at Malin Head.
Rescue workers arrived in the area to find the dog’s owner was fine and in no danger. The focus of the operation then switched to bringing the pup to safety.
A spokesperson for Killybegs Coast Guard said: “We set up our climbing system and the dog was rescued safely from the shoreline below the cliff face.”
