The Irish Coastguard’s Rescue 118 helicopter assisted with a major search operation for a missing person at Lough Foyle overnight.
The search began from 1.44am, when members of Foyle Search and Rescue were tasked by the PSNI to an incident after a person was believed to have entered the water.
Malin Head Coastguard were called to assist at 3am. Greencastle Coastguard, Northern Ireland Fire Service, Irish Coastguard and the Coleraine Coastguard assisted with the search.
All teams were stood down at 6am. The incident has now been classed as a Search and Recovery operation.
