Eight more people in Northern Ireland have died after contracting Covid-19, according to the Department of Health.

The total number of Covid-19 deaths in the North now stands at 810.

A further 791 new cases of the virus have been confirmed in the past 24 hours, including 61 in the Derry/Strabane council area.

Talks are continuing in Stormont as ministers struggle to agree new coronavirus restrictions for Northern Ireland.

The current ‘circuit breaker’ lockdown is due to expire at midnight on Thursday. Health Minister Robin Swann is proposing to extend restrictions by one week, while businesses are waiting anxiously for a decision to see if they can reopen on Friday.
