Gardai are investigating an attempted armed robbery at a post office in Inishowen last night.

The incident happened when a man walked into Clonmany post office around 5pm.

The man had a weapon and demanded cash from the staff.

However, no money was handed over and the man fled a short time later.

Nobody was injured in the attempted robbery which was over very quickly.

Gardai arrived at the scene a short time later and searched the area.

Nobody was injured and nobody has yet been arrested in connection with the attempted raid.

Gardai in Buncrana are asking anybody who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed anybody acting suspiciously around the post office to contact them.

They are also appealing to motorists in the area at the time who may have dashcam footage to come forward.
