A RECENT Covid-19 outbreak at Letterkenny University Hospital had a big impact on staffing at the facility..

There are 55 staff members at LUH off work due to being either a confirmed Covid-19 care or a close contact.

Services in three hospitals, including LUH, were heavily curtailed as a result of large outbreaks of the coronavirus.

There are 161 staff at the University of Limerick Hospitals Group and 77 at Naas General Hospital who are off work at the moment.

As of 8pm on Thursday, there were 23 patients in LUH being treated for Covid-19.

There were also two suspect cases of Covid-19 in the hospitals.

The latest HSE figures show that there is one general bed available at LUH and three critical care beds vacant.
