Two warrants existed for man arrested in possession of knife

A SLIGO man arrested on foot of a bench warrant appeared at Lettterkenny District Court this week.

Glen Friel (20), with an address at Cartron, Sligo, was arrested at 00:56am on November 9.

Friel was further charged with an offence under the Firearms and Offensive Weapons Act. He is charged with possessing a knife which had a blade on November 9, 2011, at Ballymacool, Letterkenny.

Friel was charged at Letterkenny Garda Station and made no reply.

Friel had failed to appear at a previous sitting of Glenties District Court on a burglary charge. This matter was put in to November 25.

A further warrant was in existence from Donegal District Court and this matter will be heard on December 2.

The Letterkenny charges were adjourned to Decemeber 14 for directions.

Solicitor Patsy Gallagher applied for bail and there was no Garda objection.

On all matters, Friel was granted bail in his own bond of €100 with the conditions that he reside at a hostel in Letteroenny, that he sign on at Letterkenny Garda Station twice a week and he be contactable by mobile telephone 24/7.
