Eleven new Covid-19 cases in Donegal; Five deaths, 456 cases nationwide

THERE were 11 new cases of Covid-19 confirmed in Donegal today.

The figure represents a significant decrease in the daily number of new cases that has been experienced in recent weeks.

Donegal’s 14-day incidence rate remains the highest in the country at 269.5 per 100,000 population.

In the last 14 days there have been 429 new cases in Donegal.

Five further Covid-19 related deaths were notified to the Health Protection Surveillance Centre today.

Nationally, there were 456 new cases of the coronavirus confirmed today by health officials.

There have now been 1,984 deaths and 68,356 positive cases since the outbreak.

Of the cases notified today: 199 are men and 257 are women; 69 per cent are under 45 years of age; the median age is 34 years old.

There are 105 in Dublin, 85 in Limerick, 43 in Cork, 38 in Meath, 25 in Clare and the remaining 160 cases are spread across 21 other counties, including Donegal.

As of 2pm today, 274 Covid-19 patients are hospitalised, of which 33 are in ICU. There have been 10 additional hospitalisations in the past 24 hours.

Earlier today, 14 more Covid-19 related death and 331 new cases were confirmed in Northern Ireland.
