A group of Newtowncunningham residents say they are at their wits’ end with a loud noise in the village.
Concerns have resurfaced over an unfamiliar noise which comes from a unit near Main Street.
The activities have been taking place at nighttime, and locals have said the sound is ‘like a tractor’.
One resident said: “It keeps everybody up, you can’t open your window at night. When the TV is on, it’s okay, it drowns it out, but when you go to bed at night it’s so loud. It’s like a constant buzzing.
“It’s stopping my child from sleeping and she has missed school on days because she is so wrecked.
“This has been going on, on and off, as far back as last year. Everytime people take to social media it stops for a while.
“Nobody wants to complain, it’s a business at the end of the day but they are not respecting the people that live here,” they said.
The sound is said to come from a crop drier, which has been turned off since residents raised their concerns online last week.
Local Councillor Paul Canning confirmed that steps are being taken to find a solution: “Donegal County Council has been liaising with the owner and it seems to have resolved itself at present. There are ongoing negotiations as we speak, and hopefully there’s a light at the end of the tunnel.”
