A DONEGAL man was found in possession of cannabis and drug-related paraphernalia when Gardaí visited.

On December 8, 2018, Gardaí received a report of a disturbance at a home in Drumkeen.

Letterkenny District Court heard that cannabis herb to the value of €100 was found in the bedroom of Shane Rowan (23).

On arrival, Gardaí observed blood at the front door.  Officers detected a strong smell of cannabis in the house and warrant was obtained.

A search under the misuse of drugs act was carried out when the drugs and ‘other paraphernalia’ were found.

Rowan made full admissions and said that the cannabis was for his own use.

Solicitor Mr Kieran Dillon said his client was experiencing a ‘difficult time in his life and was trying to deal with issues’ at the time,

Mr Dillon said the episode was a wake-up call and he asked the Court to be lenited.

“Give him an opportunity, he has a future ahead of him,” Mr Dillon said.

Judge Paul Kelly asked Rowan, with an address at St Bridget’s Crescent, Drumkeen, to make a €150 donation to the Letterkenny Youth and Community Club.
