Sinead Black proud to fly the flag for Donegal in Glór Tíre final

Singer Sinead Black is full of thanks as her thrilling Glór Tíre journey came to an end this week.

The talented Letterkenny woman came runner-up in the national country music competition, and won many new opportunities and fans along the way.

The final show on Tuesday night was tinged with some disappointment for Sinead as her performance failed to air. A satellite fault led to her song being cut off, but fans can catch it on Facebook now or see the repeat show on TG4 tonight (Saturday) at 8.45pm.

Sinead’s final song was dedicated to a dear family friend who passed away this year. She sang ‘Beyond the Rainbows End’ and it was only after the performance that she discovered her family and friends missed it at home.

Despite the hiccup, the entire Glór Tíre competition was a positive journey for Sinead throughout, she says: “I am so glad I did it. I was asked to be on the show years ago but I had to turn it down because I was doing my honours degree exams the week of filming. This time I was delighted to get the opportunity again, it was an amazing experience.

“I loved every opportunity and enjoyed every week, I did grow great friendships, professionally and personal friendships along the way.

“My main aim was to do my mum and dad proud and to represent local businesses was an honour.

“I wanted to promote Donegal as much as I could. I knew people from other countries were watching and I always wanted to represent Donegal and bring in local business.”

Sinead was also proud to bring songs by her father, Alex Black, to the stage. The duo hosted a ‘Daddy and Me’ weekly concert series on Facebook Live every week through lockdown and are set to launch a new album together at the beginning of December.

More exciting times await for Sinead now that Glór Tíre is wrapped up. She will continue to focus on wedding singing and a special new single is on the way this Christmas. Stay tuned…

Looking back on the the experience, Sinead has a long list of people to thank for their support, votes and sponsorship:
