THE number of Covid-19 patients in Letterkenny University has risen to 45.

LUH has the largest number of Covid-19 patients than any hospital in the country.

There are 30 patients at Tallaght Hospital being treated for the coronavirus.

Latest HSE figures, measured at 8pm on Friday, showed three suspect Covid-19 cases on site at LUH.

There are three general and two critical care beds available in LUH.

Two of the 45 Covid-19 patients at LUH are in the hospital’s intensive care unit.

Although health officials have not commented, it appears that the sizeable Covid-19 outbreak at LUH accounts for a large percentage of Donegal’s recent cases.

In the last 14 days, there have been 344 new cases detected in Donegal and the county’s 14-day incidence rate per 100,000 population remains the highest in the country at 216.1, which is more than double the national average of 98.2.
