December 11, 2020

A CURFEW has been imposed on a man charged with assaulting a woman in Stranorlar.

Karl Lydon (31) was brought before Letterkenny District Court in connection with charges on November 10, 2020.

Lydon is charged with damaging a plastic sheeting roof cover, the property of a Sinead McLaughlin.

Lydon was also charged with assaulting Ms McLaughlin on the same date at Mulreany Terrace, Stranorlar.

When the criminal damage charge was put to Lydon, he told Gardai: “I have the receipt to that property. It belonged to me.”

When charged with assaulting Ms McLaughlin, Lydon replied: “I didn’t do it.”

Gardaí objected to bail.

Sergeant Jim Collin said there was a history of previous bench warrants for Lydon.

Judge Alan Mitchell imposed a curfew on Lydon between 10pm and 6am.

“It is better that he be in the house than in Castlrea,” Judge Mitchell said.

Lydon was released on his own bond to appear before the January 18 sitting of the Court.

He is to reside at an address given to Gardai, be available to be contacted via mobile telephone 24/7, to have no contact with the injured party and to stay out of Mulreany Terrace.
