New playing surface to be installed at Fr Tierney Park

A NEW sand-based playing surface is to be installed at Fr Tierney Park in early 2021.

Other upgrade works have already taken place to the Ballyshannon venue recently.

A new 15-step spectator terrace has been constructed on the clubhouse side of the ground.

Fr Tierney Park, one of two secondary county grounds in Donegal, will now see a new surface rolled out in the first quarter of 2021.

The development coincides with the return of Aodh Ruadh to the senior football championship after their winning of the 2020 intermediate title.

The club is attempting to close a funding gap of about €50,000 to complete the project.

Grant aid of €100,000 has already been secured and further funds are held in a ring-fenced account.

All of the proceeds of the GAA National Draw which Aodh Ruadh are currently promoting will be held locally and go towards this major project which has long been a club priority.
