There has been a significant drop in new Covid-19 cases reported in Donegal today.
Six new cases were detected in Donegal up to midnight Friday, whereas 19 cases were diagnosed the previous day.
There are three additional deaths and 248 new confirmed cases in Ireland, NPHET reports.
The Covid-19 incidence rate in Donegal remains high at two and a half times the national average. Donegal’s 14-day incidence rate per 100,000 people is 216.7.
As of 2pm today, 185 COVID-19 patients are hospitalised, of which 31 are in ICU. Figures from Letterkenny University Hospital, as of 8pm Friday, recorded 21 confirmed cases among patients.
Outbreak control measures continue at the hospital, where 61 staff are currently off work due to Covid-19. Forty-eight staff have been infected with the virus, while 13 staff are off duty due to presenting symptoms of Covid-19 or being in close contact of a confirmed case.
