THE recent Winter Woolie Warmer Virtual 5k organised by Letterkenny Rotary Club was a fabulous success and many thanks to all who participated, donated and indeed posted social media results.
A truly magnificent response with almost almost €3500 being raised for the two deserving charities, the Society of St Vincent de Paul and the Letterkenny We Care Food Bank.
Picture; John Walsh & Phil Barron of the We Care LK Food bank receiving cheque for €1750 from Sharon Black organiser of the WWW virtual 5k together with Tony Murray President of the Rotary Club.
Organiser, Sharon Black said: “The response was so heart warming, especially as these funds will make a huge difference to both these charities now at such a crucial time when there are huge demands on their services’.
The random local €50 Voucher winners were Eamonn Stevenson, Dympna Whoriskey, Keith Shiels and Jason Fox.
Meanwhile, the Club Virtual Christmas Tree of Remembrance is also open for dedications with the link, http://letterkennyrotaryclub.givingtrees.ie/ very easy to use, and all donors and subscribers will get an acknowledgement email as well the opportunity to forward their message to the recipient via any social media they choose.
All necessary information required to complete this online greeting is guaranteed complete confidentiality and guaranteed that information will not be shared with any other entity.
Remember, dedications can be made for any intention, remembering loved ones now at this special time of year, either unable to come home for Christmas, deceased, ill, in hospital or just to let them know you are thinking of them.
As mentioned before, the Christmas Tree was always fully operational and manned by Rotarians and members of the respective charities in the central aisle in the Letterkenny Shopping Centre in years gone by.
Sadly, due to current health and Governmental guidelines, it’s just not possible this year. However, there is a placard there beside the original tree at the moment and patrons can click on the QR Code which will give then instant access to the link page.
The main beneficiary this year is again the Society of St Vincent de Paul and Rotary charities.
A brief review of both the Rotary Club and the St Vincent de Paul Society are also on the Giving Pages too and we greatly appreciate all of the contributions and support during these stressful times.
