DONEGAL Womens Legaue U17s returned to action in the U17 Women’s National League with a great performance and result against Bohemians on Sunday at the Letterkenny Community Centre.

Donegal Womens League 3 Bohemians 1

Louise Gallanagh put Donegal into the lead in the sixth minute. After pressure from Erika Gallagher and Codie Walsh, the ball fell nicely to Louise inside the box to slot home.

A defensive error resulted in Codie Walsh extending the lead on the 21st minute.

Emma Doherty came close twice with shots just inches wide.

Goalkeeper Orla Corry was called into a great save on the 43rd minute, with Aoife Gallanagh at the other end just wide of the post before half time.

Bohemians had more possession in the second half with Donegal defending more and solid performances by Lucy Canning, Shania McMonagle, Alannah Kee and Erika Gallagher.

Erin Doherty worked tirelessly and was a great link between the defenders and other midfielders.

A great move on 54 minutes saw Ciara McGarvey latch onto a through ball, but deemed offside. Aislinn Coll sent Emma Doherty clear and after she was fouled, Doherty stepped up to dust herself down and fire home the free kick.

Rachel McCallion and Nadine Hargadon were introduced in the second half with both solid in defence.

Hargadon had to make a great block on the Bohemians attacker late in the game.

Bohemians got one back seven minutes from end.

Caoimhe Brennan was called into action in the last few minutes and pulled off a great save.
